Socratica 2008
Dopo i convegni di Aix-en-Provence (2003) e Senigallia (2005), e il seminario di Palermo (2006), al tema "Non solo Platone!" è stato dedicato un ulteriore appuntamento congressuale, SOCRATICA 2008, che ha avuto luogo a Napoli, presso l'Istituto Italiano per gli Studi Filosofici (e in altre sedi napoletane) nei giorni 11-13 dicembre 2008.
Il volume, ora in uscita, verrà presentato a Tokyo nel corso del IX SYMPOSIUM PLATONICUM, che è in programma per i giorni 1-7 agosto 2010.

Books such as Il Socrate dei dialoghi (Bari 2007), Xénophon et Socrate (Paris 2008), Socratica 2005 (Bari 2008), and Socratica 2008 (Bari 2010) bear witness to a widespread debate about the context where Plato was plunged (and from which emerged), i.e. the informal community of the former pupils of Socrates, each of them having their own dialogues and disputes.
As a whole the Socratics formed a cultural milieu which was so lively to occupy the whole scenario of philosophy, eventually establishing itself and casting shade on other contemporary groups.
The great challenge seems to consist in learning how to avoid considering the companions of Plato as mere "minor brothers", as not only obscure but irrelevant intellectuals of the age, for this is likely to imply a serious misrepresentation of both individuals and the group, its inner dialectic as well as its impact on Athens and the Greek world.
Regular conferences, put under the auspices of the Intern. Plato Society, take place to account for current research on these topics.
Socratica 2008 includes a substantial survey of recent scholarly literature.
